Let it wash away these memories
I’ve become too numb to feel life moving
In shadows now it all has changed
The lights have dimmed, the faces aged
So here arise, begin again
The start of where it had to end
The start of where it had to end

In the midst of madness I'm asking
Whether or not God is looking after me actively
Or passively glancing at my resume like "stay strong and I promise you'll see better days"
But I've been in a daze and this craze or a trend that consumes men
And confines them to walk a path in search of fame and fortune
To no avail and no end in most cases. And those faces riddled with envy and hatred
Saw me as a free bird and decided that I had to be caged in
But don't get me wrong I don't hate them it's only natural
And naturally I caught on to the people I shouldn't have put my faith in so casually.
Gradually lost my sanity. Neglected my friends and family and for what?
To be stuck in a rut with a couple of chumps hating politics when they're politicking the next up.
The hypocrisy. I heard them mocking me one night after a show but they didn't know I was on the other side of the curtain smirking.
Rocking a silly grin. For the first time in a while I felt the wind beneath my wings again
And it was then that I knew things would be getting better
I'm not out chasing the cheddar because I married the arts
I'm a slave to the stage with my freedom at heart.
This is the rebirth of Jook the First and I want to thank y'all for being a part.
